OLAS 3

OLAS 3 is a concentrated AFFF fire-fighting foam made from a mixture of fluorine-based and hydrocarbon-based surfactants, along with other solvents and performance additives.

OLAS 3 requires relatively low energy to form foam; the resulting foam solution is capable of forming a water film on most hydrocarbon fuel surfaces. This film separates the fuel from oxygen and prevents fuel evaporation. Additionally, the water in the foam solution has a cooling effect.

OLAS 3 is suitable for use with saltwater, freshwater, and brackish water at a mixing ratio of 3%. The foam solution can also be stored and used within fire extinguishing systems.

OLAS 3 is used at a mixing ratio of 3% (volume) for Class B fires (hydrocarbon fuels).

Due to its excellent wetting properties, OLAS 3 is also used for Class A fires. OLAS 3 is not suitable for use in fires involving polar fuels.

OLAS 3 can be used with low- and medium-expansion foam spraying equipment (nozzles, spray heads) and other spraying equipment (mist nozzles, standard nozzles).

INDUCTION RATE	OLAS 3 can be easily calibrated using common ratio measuring devices such as: pressure balancing pumps and ratio scales, and treatment nozzles with fixed sensing tubes.

APPROVALS AND LISTINGS	OLAS 3X is certified according to these standards: ISO 7203-1:1995 (TCVN 7278-1:2003) ; EN 1568-3; ICAO Level B.

OLAS 3 is compatible with standard black carbon steel and materials made from alloy steel (SUS 304 and SUS 316) or copper alloys. Additionally, aluminum and some synthetic plastics (PE, PVC, PET) are also recommended for use. Avoid using OLAS 3 on equipment and fittings made of zinc or galvanized steel, as this may cause corrosion.
COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER FOAMING AGENTS	OLAS 3 has been tested for compatibility with other manufacturers’ foaming agents (similar to AFFF concentrated fire extinguishing foam) at appropriate mixing ratios. Mixing tests conducted after 10 days at ambient temperature ensured the fire extinguishing properties and effectiveness of the concentrated mixture.
SHELF LIFE	The shelf life of OLAS 3 is 10-20 years, provided that storage and preservation follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Samples of OLAS 3 concentrated foam should be sent to the manufacturer or a qualified laboratory for annual quality testing.
STORAGE AND HANDLING	Storage temperature: 0°C to +50°C. If the product is frozen during storage and transportation… Transfer, the thawing process will restore the product to its full usability. It is best to stir well after thawing.
ENVIRONMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS AND TOXICITY	Aquatic	Aquatic environments, from sensitive species to highly tolerant species, are not affected by OLAS 3X products.
	Toxicity	Biodegradability OLAS 3X products are almost completely biodegradable: Ratio: BOD28 / COD > 0,65.
	Sewage Treatment	OLAS 3X has a low biological demand (BOD), so there is no need to supplement oxygen in the wastewater treatment system. OLAS 3X is particularly non-toxic to the biological populations commonly found around wastewater treatment areas OLAS 3X does not contain PFOA, PFOS substances that are harmful to the environment. 	Treatability	OLAS 3X does not contain Nitrates and Phosphates, thus does not maintain the growth of algae and moss in the water source.
